Meet Evelyn-"Evi"

Owner & Lead Teacher

 

Hello! My name is Evelyn Lucero — but everyone calls me Evi. I have over 20 years of experience working with children as a babysitter, nanny, teacher’s aide, and now a licensed childcare provider. I am also a proud mother of two wonderful kids who inspire me every day.

 

I was born in Guatemala and raised in California. As the oldest of four siblings, I grew up caring for babies and young children and found joy in nurturing them from a very young age. That early experience grew into my life’s work.

 

I believe children thrive when they feel seen, loved, and happy. Watching them grow and discover what they are truly capable of is the greatest gift of this work, and the reason this job never feels like just a job.

 

When I’m not working with children, I enjoy reading, photography, traveling and spending time with my family. I also love capturing photos of the children in our program — you’ll see plenty of their smiles throughout our pages!

Meet Mrs. Siomara 

Assistant Teacher

 

Hello! My name is Siomara Herrarte, and I have been part of the Best Friends Daycare family since 2014. I am a proud mother of two children, one in college and one in high school.

 

I am passionate about working with young children and love supporting their growth, learning, and development. It is a joy to watch them build confidence, skills, and friendships in this environment.

 

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, attending church, hiking, reading and participating in community events. I love staying connected to the people and neighborhoods around me!

 

I feel truly blessed to be part of this community at Best Friends Daycare and look forward to working with your family!

Meet Skittles 

Skittles is our 10 year old English Yellow Lab and a true member of the Best Friends Daycare family. He has grown up alongside the children in our program and truly believes he is one of them, he plays with the kids, follows us through every activity and has been a beloved part of our daily routine from the very beginning.

Your Child's Safety Is Our Priority! 

At Best Friends Daycare, the safety of your child is our top priority. All staff members have completed Live Scan fingerprinting and have been cleared through both the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check process. All staff are also CPR & First Aid certified for both adults and children. Our lead teacher holds a State Childcare License, Teacher’s Permit, and three Certificates of Achievement in Early Childhood Education.

Our Story 


Best Friends Daycare was born from a lifelong passion for children and a dream that started long before I ever opened my doors.
 
Before I became a mother, I always knew I wanted to work with children. My dream was to build a career in early childhood education and one day open a home daycare where I could care for both my own children and others. I took child development classes at College of Marin and have continued my education through various professional training programs over the years. I believe in staying current with training and childcare laws, best practices, and children’s needs, which are always evolving.
 
After my second child was born, a close friend encouraged me to finally take the leap. I completed my licensing, and in February 2010, Best Friends Daycare officially opened its doors. My very first client was my friend’s son, and that moment changed everything.
 
Since then, it has been a true blessing. Families have trusted us with their most precious people,  their children, and we don’t take that lightly. We are deeply committed to providing the highest quality care.
 
My dream was always to create a space that felt like a true home away from home — a place where the warmth and love of family blends naturally with the structure and learning of a classroom. Not just a daycare, but a home-based environment where children feel safe, loved, and inspired to grow every single day.
 
The first five years of life matter deeply. We are honored to be part of that chapter for every child who walks through our door. 💛
