At Best Friends Daycare, our program is play-based, hands-on, and centered around the needs of each child. We believe young children learn best through meaningful play and real interactions. We support each child socially, emotionally, cognitively, physically, and linguistically — all at their own pace.

Play-Based Learning

Play is the foundation of learning at Best Friends Daycare. We create opportunities for children to explore, imagine, problem-solve and build confidence through daily play and discovery. This includes:

  • Open-ended play — building, creating and exploring with no set outcome

  • Outdoor exploration — nature walks, sensory play and physical activity

  • Story time & songs — building language, listening and imagination

  • Art & sensory activities — painting, playdough, cutting and creating

  • Dramatic play — dress up, pretend kitchen, role play and storytelling

  • Early math & language exposure — letters, numbers, colors and shapes

  • Music & movement — dancing, singing and rhythm activities

Kindergarten Readiness

At Best Friends Daycare we are intentional about preparing every child for kindergarten, not just academically, but emotionally and socially too. By the time children leave our program most are confident, curious and ready to thrive in school. Here is what we work on every day:

Academic Skills:

  • Letter recognition and early reading foundations

  • Number recognition and basic counting

  • Colors, shapes and patterns

  • Writing their name and early pencil skills

  • Scissor and fine motor skills

  • Calendar, days of the week and weather awareness

Social & Emotional Skills:

  • Sharing, taking turns and conflict resolution

  • Following routines and classroom expectations

  • Building friendships and communication skills

  • Self-confidence and independence

  • Respect for others and empathy

Cultural Celebrations & Special Activities:

  • Holiday celebrations throughout the year

  • Cultural awareness and diversity appreciation

  • Seasonal crafts and themed activities

Infant Care (0–12 months)

We follow each baby’s individual routine and gradually ease them into our group rhythm. Infants thrive with tummy time, sensory play, songs and plenty of interaction. We proudly support breastfeeding families and welcome pumped milk.

Toddlers & Preschoolers (1–5 years)

Children at this age become eager explorers, testing ideas, building independence and developing social skills. We offer a balance of guided activities and free play to support confidence, language, problem-solving and creativity.

We understand that families today have many options, including TK programs. But we believe that quality of care matters just as much as cost. In a small home setting, your child receives personalized attention, consistent caregivers and a nurturing environment that larger programs simply cannot replicate.

At Best Friends Daycare we intentionally prepare children for kindergarten. Most of our families transition directly from our program to Kinder, and they arrive ready. We prepare your child not just academically, but emotionally and socially too. Because a child who feels confident and loved is a child who is ready to learn.

Bilingual Learning

Spanish is naturally woven into our daily routines, songs, stories and play. Many children leave our program speaking both languages confidently!

We also warmly welcome families of all language backgrounds. We make every effort to learn basic words and phrases in your child’s home language, whether it’s a greeting, a comfort word, or a favorite song. We believe that honoring a child’s home language helps them feel seen, secure and proud of who they are. Language is part of identity, and we celebrate that here.

Outdoor Play & Learning

Our large backyard gives children space to run, dig, climb and explore nature every single day.

Meals

All meals are included — no need to pack anything! We serve home cooked, nutritious meals inspired by cultures from around the world. Our love of travel and food means your child gets to experience a variety of flavors and traditions right at our table.

We proudly participate in the State Food Program, which guides our meal planning with age-appropriate portions and nutritional standards. This means every meal your child receives meets official guidelines for their age and development.

We also warmly encourage families to share a meal or snack from home when they’d like to. It helps children feel connected to their roots, gives us a wonderful opportunity to learn new recipes and flavors, and makes our little community feel even more like family. It is never required, always welcomed with open arms.

We also encourage healthy habits from an early age, children are offered water throughout the day to stay hydrated and build lifelong healthy routines.

Please inform us of any allergies or dietary restrictions so we can ensure your child’s safety at mealtimes.

We also want to remind all families how important it is to share at least one meal a day together at home. That time around the table, even for just a few minutes, builds connection, security and love that children carry with them every single day.

We serve:  Breakfast · Morning Snack · Lunch · Afternoon Snack
